Description: Cottage Mack was one of two cottages at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home not built of quarried limestone or sandstone. The entire state had been searched for the dark, weathered, knobby stones used in the cottage's construction in 1890. Cottage Mack was destroyed by fire in April 1921. Because the state carried no insurance, the cottage was not rebuilt.
