| Description: | The picnic grove was the scene of many gatherings. An important factor in Rye Beach Park's popularity was its proximity to the Lake Shore Electric Railway. In July 1908, the Lake Shore Electric added 14 cars to its regular run to provide transportation for more than 2,000 people attending the Zion Lutheran Church picnic. Two more special cars brought businessmen from Sandusky to the park so that men might join their families for the evening festivities. |
