Description: The abundance of limestone around Castalia, Ohio, gave rise to the quarrying industry and the manufacture of cement. The limestone is about 42 percent carbonate of magnesia and 55 percent carbonate of lime. The deposit stretches in a sheet from Castalia south and west to Logan County, Ohio, where Zane's Caverns are located.
