| Description: | This view of one of Weldon B. Cooke's flying boats outside the Davis Boat Works Company in Sandusky, Ohio, shows workmen easing a fuselage down an incline plane in preparation for the move to the Lake Erie Dry Dock and Mill Company. The tail section was already attached, but the wings, often called "planes," were yet to be secured to the fuselage. Because early aircarft were not capable of flying long distances, aviators were forced to disassemble them and ship them by rail to flying exhibitions. |
