Description: This image is of Weldon B. Cooke's "Flying Dutchman" on Sandusky Bay. Attracted to Sandusky, Ohio, by the Roberts Motor Company, Cooke began to construct and design aircraft in the city in 1912. To raise more funds, he took his "Flying Dutchman" out of storage (Columbus Avenue and Market Street in Sandusky) and returned to barnstorming. Cooke never achieved his dreams. He was killed during an exhibition at Pueblo, Colorado. Note that in this view of the "Flying Dutchman," Cooke had exchanged the aircraft's wheels and landing gear for a single pontoon.
